Tonight the Successor to the Voice took on Neal Schon's 2007 Revelation. In a heated battle between two guys that rock as hard as anyone in the business, only one came out on top.
The early rounds were relatively even. Augeri, looking and sounding like the Voice, strikes Pineda with a soulful feel that bewilders him and the crowd. Same tone, same range..Woh...is this Steve Perry? Pineda, on the other hand, counterpunched with his strong powerful voice that Augeri had trouble defending. Often twirling the microphone stand and jumping off the drum set, there was nothing Augeri could do. As the fight went on, Pineda just got stronger and stronger, feeding off the crowd and the 1000's of Filipinos supporting him, eerily similar to a Manny Pacquiao fight. Augeri came charging back in the later rounds with his guitar rocking Chain Reaction to the core!!! But in the end Pineda's showmanship was too much and wins by unanimous decision.
Bottom Line: If it wasn't for the throat infection, Augeri would still be rocking with Journey today. But Pineda brings a newly found energy that the whole band feeds off of and its showing in Revelation sales and in concert sell outs. To do that in just 9 months is simply phenomenal.

They both great performers but Arnel definitely delivers the Journey sound with more power. Augeri was good though.

I swear, I listened to both of them with my eyes closed and concentrated, I didnt finished listening to Steve A' It just didnt sink in me. Arnel nailed it, Arnel delivered the song much, much better than Steve Augeri. so guess who i voted,, LOL peace out.
